Applying for a Gun Permit

  1. Applications for a handgun license will be submitted online only. Applicants must go to the Indiana State Police Handgun Licensing website. When filling out the application be sure to select Daviess County.
  2. As you submit the application, you will be asked to make an appointment online with an L-1 contractor to have your fingerprints taken. The local L-1 contractor is the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce at

    An appointment may also be made by calling 877-472-6917. The cost of fingerprinting is $11.95 and the "State of Indiana Firearms License Fees" shall be paid to the L-1 contractor by credit card or money order at this time.
  3. When you have completed the online application, you will print out the confirmation page.
  4. Once you have printed out your confirmation page, had your fingerprints taken at the L-1 contractor and paid your "State Fees" to them, you must call the Daviess County Security Center at 812-254-1060 and make an appointment with Jenny McWilliams (call Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm only).
  5. When you come for your appointment, you must bring your Indiana Driver's License or other identification with a recent photo, a money order or cash payment in the exact amount of the "Local Fees" and your application confirmation page.
  6. When you arrive at the Daviess County Security Center for your appointment, your online application will be reviewed and you will be issued a receipt for your payment of the "Local Fees".
